We are working with a pioneering educational software company in East Bay looking for a Java Software Engineer to join their fantastic team. This software engineering position is ideal for candidates with strong Java and Web development skills wishing to work with the latest Java technologies and programming techniques.


The position requires excellent understanding and ability to use Java. Ability to learn new technologies while working closely with other programmers in a team oriented environment. Use commercial and open source tools and frameworks and participate in the software design process. Able to write well-documented, extensible software code with unit tests that are easy to maintain, and adheres to generally accepted programming standards and OOP practices.

Required skills:
* 4+ years programming experience (3+ of those years in Java).
* Proficiency in one or more Java web application development frameworks (e.g., Struts, Cocoon, Tapestry).
*Demonstrated expertise in J2EE and distributed computing.
*BA Degree in Computer Science or related field.

Desirable Skills (not must haves):
*Object-Oriented design skills.
*Understanding of mulit-threaded software design and concepts.
*Experience creating enhanced web content with Ajax or Flash.
*Experience managing web applications within the JBoss application server.
