Description:
A billion dollar a year software company is seeking an experienced federal sales engineer to sell their softare solution in the Washington D.C. metro area. The company is seeking an individual who is willing to travel up to 50% in the D.C. area and is comfortable selling to the federal governement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Act as Technical Account Manager for assigned customers
- Perform technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects.
- Travel to customer sites for pre-sales evaluations, including installation and customization or upgrades of both hardware and software.
- Assist with the development of formal sales plans and proposals for assigned opportunities.
- Occasionally provide post-sales support and coordinate support with the Support organization.
- Provide on-site training to customers about use and administration of networking products.
- Understanding and conversant about company, competitors, technologies, solutions, product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
- Possess competitive knowledge including solution, technology and product offerings.
- Document future product needs and work with Product Management to facilitate enhancements if needed.
- Work with and train channel partner SE’s to successfully complete product evaluations for customers.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- The SE should be capable of handling technical issues of any degree of complexity with no need for supervision or assistance.
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to assess a problem and determine an effective course of action.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills required – both oral and written, with the ability to articulate and educate customers about complex technology simply.
- A strong understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, Terminal Services, SSL VPNs, and networking technologies.
- Past experience with Citrix technologies or virtualization technologies is a plus.
- CCA, CCEA, MCSE or related certification is a plus
- Technical sales experience, particularly RFP/RFI and presentation experience.
- Ability to diffuse complicated technical and political situations with enterprise customers.
- Minimum 5+ years relevant work experience required.
- Computer Science Degree or equivalent work experience recommended.
